For Sikh religion Hemkund Sahib Yatra is popular yatra. “Valley of flowers” world famous flower park is nearby Hemkund Sahib. It starts from Rishikesh or Haridwar. The Himalayas and the Zanskar range in the transition Zone, the entire valley is situated at an altitude of 11000 feet. The surrounding mountains it exhibits different vegetation zone and due to the altitude of the valley. Leading to the pilgrimage site there is well maintained path from Ghangaria.
The meaning of Sanskrit name Hemkund derived from Hem (snow) and Kund (bowl). At the mount of Hemkund the Dasam Granth says God ordered Sikh Guru Gobind Singh was in deep meditation. It was constructed in 1980s by personnels of the Indian Army the Shrine is construct like a star. Behind the Gurudwara Lake is present here where you click photos. From Haridwar to Joshimath Hemkund Sahib Trek is start. During the month of July and August which is monsoons this is the good time to visit Valley of flowers. The main town is Joshimath near Gobindghat. The Lakshman Ganga’s surging water is also visible. You can witness of natural fragrances of natural garden.
According to Hindu Myths, this place is known as Lokpal Lake for the name of Lord Vishnu. Because, brother of Lord Rama, Lakshman came here for herbal treatment after facing the injury from Ravan’s son. According to another mythology, previous birth of Lakshman was in the form of seven headed snake known as Sesnag. Lord Vishnu was seated on the snake (Sesnag). That’s why the place has been known as Lokpal for the name of Lord Vishnu. From this Holy place you will never feel go back to your home. Natural beauty of this Lake is speechless.
Day 01: Haridwar – Joshimath
Drive to Joshimath visit Karnprayag, Devprayag, and Rudraprayag from Haridwar in morning. Here Temple of Narsingh and Nav Durga are located and other pilgrimage location is a midpoint, finally arrive at Joshimath. Stay overnight at Joshimath.
Day 02: Joshimath – Govind Ghat – Ghangaria
Trek start to Ghangaria from Joshimath, drive to Govind Ghat. Stay overnight at Ghangaria.
Day 03: Ghangaria - Hemkund Sahib – Ghangaria
Trek start to Hemkund sahib from here early morning after Darshan return back to Ghangaria. Valley is a carpet of colors red, blue, green, yellow and bright snow at the top. Brown and grey soil in the middle, it is surrounded mountains with trees.
Day 04: Ghangaria – Govindghat – Rudraprayag
From Ghangaria to Govindghat we follow the same trek route after 13km trek. Stay overnight in hotel.
Day 05: Rudraprayag – Rishikesh
Drive to Rishikesh in the morning. Your tour is ended here.
HOW TO REACH
By Road: Govind Ghat is the nearest road head to Hemkund sahib. From Haridwar drive around 12 – 13 hours. Hemkund sahib is about 14kms trek from Govindghat to base camp at Ghangaria.
By Rail: Haridwar from Hemkund sahib is the nearest railway station is situated about 276kms. Haridwar connects with Uttarakhand major cities of India.
By Air: Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport in Dehradun is situated about 295 km away.
