Mukteshwar is a famous and beautiful destination in Nainital district of Uttrakhand state. It is situated at a height of 7500 feet above the sea level in the Kumaon hills. A beautiful temple "Mukteshwar temple" is located in the region and dedicate to Lord Shiva. The place is calm and peaceful town present glorious view of surrounding forest and mountains. The town got its name After a 350 year old Temple Mukteshwar Dham.
The surrounding of the town by Friuts Orchards and Coniferous forests. The beauty of the place is unpolluted and unaffected till the date. It is believed that Lord Shiva killed a demon at this spot and he granted him salvaion or mukti.
The houses of the town bulit with red roofs and ancient style window made of wood. Agriculture is the main sourse of income, potato and Fruits are main cultivation here. During the month of April many festivals are celebrate in Mukteshwar and Festival celebration start with traditional food and folk dance. The town was developed in 1893 by the Britishers as research and Education Institute.

It was established at the imperial Bacteriological Laboratory in 1889 at pune on the recommendation of the cattel Plague Commissions and was relocated to Mukteshwar in 1893.
Chauli Ki Jaali: This place is situated near by the Mukteshwar temple. The site is offered magnificent view of the Kumaon Valley. Naukuchia Tal: The lake has nine corners located at a distance of 20 kms from Mukteshwar at an elevation of 1220 mts above the sea level.
