Karnaprayag is a city located in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand state. Karnaprayag is one of Panch prayag or the five confluences of river Alaknanda. It is situated at an average elevation of 1451 meters above the sea level.
The town is known as "The City of Karna of Mahabharta".This is believed that The place where karna of Mahabharta worshiped the sun God. Karnaprayag has an ancient temple of Uma Devi Dedicated to Goddess Sati. The great hindu monk and philosopher Swami Vivekanand meditate here with his Gurus.
Karnaprayag is on the way of of Chardham yatra and Badrinath Yatra. Also a busiest place and facalities like ATM and Petrol pump are easily available here.
The other attraction of the place are picturesque Nauti Village and the Adi Badri temple, one can experience the Nandprayag, Joshimath, Gauchar, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Gopeshwar and gwaldhan that are located approx of Krnaprayag.
Summer Season: Summer is hot in Karnaprayag and starts from April to till the month of July. The maximum temprature is 31 degree and minimum is 16 degree. Summer season is the best time to visit in Karanaprayag with pleasant weather.
Winter Season: November is the beaginning month of winter season and till the month of February. Winters are extremely cool here with the temprature in between 0 degree to 20 degree.
Monsoon Season: August is the starting month of Monsoon season till the month of September. During the season karaprayag experience moderate rainfall. The Rainfall bring freshness and greenery to the place.
Adi Badri: Adi Badri is one of the famous Panch Badri of Uttarakhand. This temple is a group of Sixteen temples. It is a group of an ancient temple and located at a distance of 17 km from Karnaprayag. Three feet black stone ideal of lord Vishnu is situated here. It is believed that Maharishi Ved Vyas wrote the Bhagwat Gita at Adi Badri.
Uma Devi Temple: Uma Devi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvati the daughter of the Himalayans. This is an ancient temple and built in 20th century. The temple has great religious importance in the life of locale people. Uma Devi Temple is located near the holy confluence of Alaknanada and Pindar River. It is the second most revered Hindu Shrine in Karnaprayag.
Nandaprayag: Nandaprayag is one of the panchprayags. It is the place of confluence of river Alaknanda and Nandakini. It is believed that a holy dip in the confluence of Nandprayag is able to wash all the sins. Situated at a distance of 18kms above the sea level at an elevation of 870 mts above the sea level.
Karna Temple: This temple is situated in Karnaprayag near to the Conflaunce of Pinder and Alaknanda River. The shrine is dedicated to Karna of Mahabharata. Karna meditated here at this place hence this place is known as Karnaprayag.
Chandika Devi Simli: The temple is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Maa Kali. Chandika Devi Temple also known as Sri Raj Rajeshwari Chandika Maata mandir. The temple is located in the tiny hamlet of simli in Karnaprayag. Situated at a distance of 6 km from Karnaprayag. Thousand of the Devotees come to pray here. In the older days the devotees used to sacrifice goats but now Sweetmeat and coconut offering have replaced.
Nauti Village: Nauti Village is a located in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand. It is located at an elevation of 369 meters above the sea level and Situated at a distance of 24 km from Karnaprayag and the village is known as village of Sati Mata and the village of Nanda Devi. The Nanda Raj Jat yatra is starts here and take place once in every 12 year.
Chopta: Chopta is a popular hill station and known as the "Mini Switzerland" of Uttarakhand. Chopta is situated 72 km from Karnaprayag and increased the number of tourist in recent years due to its cahrming surrounding, Snow capped peaks and pleasent wather. Tungnath is the highest tempel of Lord shiva situated at a distance of 3.5 km from Chopta.
Bedni Bugyal: Bedni Bugyal is a beautiful grassland showering tourists with invigorating viewa of the Himalayan peaks and their reflection on the still water of Bedni Kund.
Joshimath: Created by Adi Guru Sankracharya and one of the fourth muth. Joshimath is the winter home of Shri Badrinath Ji, Palki of Shri Badrinath ji is transfered in Joshimath During the winter season. Situated at a distance of 82 km from Karnaprayag with at an elevation of 1890 mts above the sea level. Kalpavraksha and Narsing Temple are the main attraction point located in Joshimath.
Auli: Most popular skiing destination located in Uttarakhand at an elevation of 3050 mts above the sea level. Asia's highest and longest cable car is situated in Auli and well connected to Joshimath. Situated at a distance of 85 km from Karnaprayag and well connected to motorable road. Auli is the first ever south Asian winter sports game in 2010.
Badrinath: Established by Adi Guru Shankracharya in 9tyh century. Badrinath is the most dedicated shrine of hindu Devotees and holdes an importance among the pilgrimage. located at an elevation of 3133 mts above the sea level in Chamoli district. The temple is lies on the right bank of Alaknanada river and dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Every year thousand of devotees visit the shrine in the month of May to October. During the winter months the temple is remain close due to heavy Snowfall.
Gopeshwar: Situated at a distance of 40 kms from Karnaprayag and serves several ancient temples located in Gopeshwar. The main attraction of the temple is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva, Vaitarni kund and the splendid views of Himalayans.
