Haldwani is known as the Gateway of Kumaon. Haldwani is a city and biggest business center located in Uttarakhand state of India. Haldwani is the third most popular city in the entire Uttarakhand and has an average elevation of 424 meters above the sea level. The place is also famous for The University of agriculture and technology callde GB Pant university of Agriculture and Technology.
Haldwani is home of one of the largest vegetable, Fruits and foodgrain. The Gaula river is the main source of water which flow near by the city. The local people is called Halduvani after the name Haldu. Later George William renamed Halduvani as Haldwani in 1834. He was a Commissioner of Kumaon and though British record suggest that the place was established in 1834. The most famous stadium "Indira Gandhi International Sports Stadium" is located in Haldwani.
Haldwani is a well developed city that feature some of the prestigious educational institutions, Lively cafes and resturents where one can spend a leisure evening. Days are warm but nights re cool here. It is also known for being the former Trading point of Kumaon.

Asht Bujha Lakshmi Temple: The temple is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and located at a distance of 5 km from Haldwani situated at Gorapadow. The british army platoon used to camp here during 19 th cenutry.
Lal Kuan Railway Station: Situated at a dis tance of 17.6 kms from Haldwani. It is one of the Biggest and Busiest railheads of Uttarakhand in Kumaun Region. It is also known as for its huge paper mill of Birla Groups.
Haldwani Railway station: It is biggest township after Dehradun and biggest city of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. Haldwani is also refered as the "Gateway of Kumaon "which means it is a major city which connects almost all regions of Kumaon.
Naukuchia Tal: The tal is known as the nine corners and is located in a small hill station in Nainital District of the Indain state of Uttarakhand. The lake is around 175 feet deep and is situated 1220 feet above the sea level and 47 km from Haldwani. According to the legend if one manages to have a glimps of all nine Corners at once he or she will disappear into a cloud of Smoke.
Sat Tal: Sat Tal is lake is located at a distance of 22 km from Haldwani on the way towards Bhim Tal with an altitude of 1370 mts above the sea level. The lake is group of seven lakes and surrounding dens forest of Oak and pine trees. The name of the seven lake are Purna Tal, Sita Tal, Ram tal, Laxman Tal, Nal Damyanti Tal, Sukh Tal and Garud Tal.
Nainital: Most popular hill station of Uttarakhand is Nainital and popular for its Naini Lake. Situated at a distance of 38 km from Haldwani with at an elevat5ion of 1938 mts above the sea level. Nainital is offered the glorious view of mighty Himalayan and surrounding. Nainital has many lakes like Bimtal, Nakuchital, Sattal, Khurpatal etc but naini lake is most famous amomg them.
Kausani: Situated at a distance of 130 km from Bhimtal and one of the most popular hill station of Kumaon. Located at an elevation of 1890 mts above the sea level. A fanous poet writer Sumitranandan pant was born in Kausani and Mahatma Gandhi was visit kusani in 1929. Kausani is a beautiful hill station and present the several majestic views of snow capped peaks Himalayans.
Almora: Famous for its magnificent beauty, Panoramic view of the Himalayas, Rich cultural, Rich flora and fauna, Qnique Handicraft etc. Almora is populerly known as the "Switzerland of India" situated at just 90 kms from Haldwani. Also famous by Swami Vivekanand who meditation here.
Ranikhet: It is home of the Kumaon Regiment and Naga Regiment of Indian Army. Ranikhet is known as the "Queen Meadow" or "Queens Field" and also offered invigorating views of the snow capped Himalayans. Situated at a distance of 80 km from Haldwani with at an elevation of 1869 mts above the sea level.
Mukteshwar: Mukteshwar is a small town and got its name from a 350 year old temple Mukteshwar Dham dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated at a distance of 60 km from Haldwani with at an elevation of 2285 mts above the sea level. It is developed by Britishers as research and Education Institute.
Khurpa Tal: Situated around 11 km by road and 5 km by hike from Nainital. It is attractive lake located in Nainital with at an average elevation of 1635 mts above the sea level.
Bhim Tal: Bhimtal is an ancient place name after Bhima of Mahabharta when Bhima was visited this place during the exile Period of Pandavs. The main attraction in the town is Bhimtal lake which is the small island with at an elevetion of 1375 mts above the sea level. Situated at a distance of 28 km from Haldwani.
