Guptakashi is located in Garhwal district of Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand. It is situated at a distance of 47 km before the holy shrine of Kedarnath. The town is located at an elevation of 1319 meters above the sea level. Guptakashi is a religious town and it is home of many ancient shrines like Vishwanath Temple and Ardhnareshwar Temple.
The main attraction of town is Manikamik kund is a place where two streams of the Ganga and Yamuna meet. It is situated in the premises of Vishwanath Temple. The Shiva linga is bathed there from two source of water namely Ganesha's head and Cow's head. The temple Vishwanath dedicated to Lord shhiva and Ardhnarishwara is a temple of half man and half woman temple of Lord shiva and Goddess parvati. It is situated on the left side of the Vishwanath Temple.
Summer Season: Summer season starts from April to June. Summer is quite hot during the summer season. The maximum temprature is 30 degree and minimum remprature is 15 degree. Days are quite hote but nights are generaly cool. Summer season is relexing and offered beautiful sight seeing of the town.
Winter Season: December is beginning month of the winter season here and till the month of February. The maximum temprature is 20 degree and minimum temprature is 0 degree. During the season the wather of Guptakashi is extremely cool.
Monsoon Season: Guptakashi received rainfall in the month July to till September. The rainfall bring freshness and greenery to the place. During the season wather becomes chilly and the temprature is low down.
Vishwanath Temple: Vishwanath temple is one of the most popular destination of Rudraprayag District. The temple is dedicated to the Lord Shiva in the form of Vishwanath, meaning is "LOrd of the Universe". Situated at a distance of 1 kms from Guptakashi and the temple is built by stone, Heaving a high tower and a slanting Roof.
Manikarnik Kund: Manikarnik kud is the place where the Lord Shiva is bathed by the two streams of water, one coming from Ganesha's head and the second from a cow's head. It is believed that the water from two rivers is coming into this kund River Ganga and Yamuna.
Ardhanarishwar Temple: The temple is situated on the left side of Vishwanath temple. Ardhanarishwar temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The idol in the temple is half man and half woman presenting the Lord Shiva and Goddess parvati. One will find here the symbol of swastika.
Triyuginarayan Temple: Triyuginarayan Temple is the place where the Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married . Thousand of Devotees visit the temple to get the blessing of lord Siva and Goddess Parvati. Situated at a distance of 45 km from Guptakashi.
Ukhimath: Ukhimath is home of shri Kedarnath Ji during the winter season. Palki of Shri Kedarnath is transfere to Ukhimath for six month during the winter season. Ukhimath is situated at a distance of just 12 km from Guptakashi. It is an important destination of Rusraprayag and offered the amazing view of snow capped peak of majestic himalayan.
Chopta: Chopta is a small village offered natural beauty of Chopta and located at an elevation of 2900 meters above the sea level. During the winter season the place is present charming beauty of Nature. It is popularly known as the "Mini Switzerland" of Uttarakhand. Situated at a distance of 36 kms from Guptkashi. During the winter season the place is changed into a sheet of white Snow.
Gaurikund: Gaurikund is the place where the 14 km trekking is start to reach Kedarnath temple. A temple of Goddess Parvati is situated in Gaurikund and it is believed that this is the place where the goddess Parvati take bath daily and Lord Shiva is agree to get married with Goddess parvati. situated at a distance of 34 km from Guptakashi and has a natural Thermal Springs.
Kedarnath Temple: One of the holiest Hindu Shrine Dedicated to Lord Shiva. situated at a distance of 14 km from Gaurikund and 47 km from Guptakashi with at an elevation of 3584 mts above the sea level. This temple was establiehed by Adi Guru Sankracharya in 8th century, it is one of the 12th jyotirlingas of India.
