Gopeshwar is a town located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state of India. It is located at an elevation of 1300 meters above the sea level. Gopeshwar is famous for its ancient temples dedicated to lord shiva. Thousand of devotees prayers to lord shiva in Gopeshwar. The place is bounded by four famous temples like- Tunganath, Anasurya Devi, Rudranath and Badrinath.
Badrinath is the most important site of cahardham dedicated to lord Vishnu. Other main attraction of the place is Vaitarni kund. It is a group of temples without idols and surrounding by Oak Tree.
Gopeshwar is only place where the only T.B Hospital in chamoli district is located in Gopeswar. Education level in Gopeshwar is high and many Government colleges and institute are located here. Summer Season: Summer is starts from April to till the month of june. The beautiful place is known for friendaly climate. The climate is pleasant during the summer season. Summer season is the best time to visit in Gopeshwar.
Winter Season: Octoner is the beaginning month of winters to till the month of february. Winters are cool and pleasent throughout the year. The month of December to February is extremly cool. During the winter season wather is cooll and the temprature is fall down upto the Freezing point.
Monsoon Season: Monsoon starts from July to till the month of September. In the month of August Gopeshwar received rainfall.
Gopinath Temple: Gopinath is a famous temple located in Gopeshwar in Chamoli District and the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is visited by large number of devotees. Situated at a distance of 2 km from Gopeshwar and was built in 9th and 11th century. It is believe that A king live here and had a cow. The cow give the milk to a Shiva Linga daily, When the king saw this he made a temple at this spot. After panch Kedar Shrine, this is the most famous and revered Shiva Temple in Uttrakhand. Another belief is that when Lord Shiva Turned Kamadeva into Ashes at Gopinath.
Chandika Devi Temple: Chandika Devi Temple is dedicated to goddess Maa Kali. The temple is also known as Mahisasur Mardni and located at a distance of 2 km from Gopeshwar in the chamoli District of Uttarakhand. The temple is the eight siddhapeeth dedicated to goddess Maa Kali. This is the place where maa Kali killed the Mahishasur.
Anusuya Devi Temple: Anusuya Devi temple is dedicated to goddess of Maa Sati. it is a famous temple in Gopeshwar located in chamoli district. Anusuya Devi was the wife of Atri muni ( one of sapta rishi ) and fully dedicated to her husband. Situated at a distance of 13 km from Gpoeshwar and the atri Muni Ashram is located at a distance of 2 km from the temple.
Roopkund: Roopkund is a lake, located at an altitude of 5029 mt above the sea level. This is a very thin kund.
Vasuki Tal: Vasuki Tal lies around 7 km and a moderate trek away from Kedarnath. It is a lake located at a height of 4150 mts above the sea level.
Panch Kedar: The panch Kedar include Tungnath, Madhyameshwar, Kalpeshwar, Kedarnath and Rudranath. Tourist have trek of many kilometers to reach of these temple. Tungnath is the highest of five and located at an elevation of 3680 mt above the sea level.
Satopanth lake: The Satopanth lake is famous for its calm water. It is a Triangualr lake. The lake is spread for some half a kilometers and it is believe that trinity of gods Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva occupy the three corners of the lake. The lake is situated some 25 km from Badrinath.
Trijugi Narayan: Trijugi Narayan is the extremely popular place. It is located at a distance of 107 km from Gopeshwar. It is believed that it is the place where the Goddess parwati and Lord Shiva were married.
Saggar: Saggar is situated along the Gopeshwer Ukhimath road, some 5 km away from Gopeshwar. This is the starting point of the trekking to the Rudranath which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Chopta: Chopta is popular destination of Uttrakhand and popularly known as the "Mini Switzerland" Of india. Situated at a distance of 37 km from Gopeshwar and the region is turned into a white sheet of snow During the winter Season. Every Month Thousands of tourists visit chopta has become popular vacation spot for adventure lovers. The Tungnath temple is the highest temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is situated at a dis tance of 3.5kms from Chopta.
Joshimath: One of the fourth muth and also a winter home of Shri Badrinath Ji. Palki of Sri Badrinath ji is transfar here During the winter season. Joshimath is well connected with Auli by Asia's longest and Heighest Cable car. Situated at a distance of 58 km from Gopeshwar with at an altitude of 1890 mts above the sea level. Narsing Temple and Kalpavriksha are must visited point in Joshimath.
Ukhimath: Home of Shri Kedarnath Ji and Madhyamashwer During the Winter season. Offered the amazing views of snow capped prak of Himalayan can be see easily here. Ukhimath is inhabited by the Rawal's who are the head priests of Kedarnath. It is an important Destination of Rudraprayag District and part of the winter Char Dham yatra.
Badrinath: Situated at a distance of 101 kms from Gopeshwar with at an elevation of 3133 mts above the sea level. Badrinath is the most important site of Hindu Pilgrimage and Char Daham Yatra located in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand state. Adi Guru Sankaracharya was established the Temple in the 9th century and lies on the bank of Alaknanda River. The Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and millions of tourists and Devotees visit the temple throughtout the year during the month of May to October. The temple is closed during the winter season Due to Heavy Snowfall.
Deoria Tal: Deoria Tal is a beautiful lake surrounding with forest all around. Situated about 51 kms from Gopeshwar with at an altitude of 2438 mts above the sea level. The reflections of Chaukhamba Peak in the Crystal clear water of Deoria Tal creats a magical illusion.
Auli: Most popular skiing destination of Uttarakhand, situated at a distance of 71 kms from Gopeshwar with at an elevation of 3050 mts above the sea level. Asia's longest and highest cable car is situated in Auli and well connected with Joshinath. It is the best skiing slope located in India and well connected to motorable road.
Tungnath: Located at an elevation of 3680 mts above the sea level. It is one of the panchkedar and the highest temple of Lord Shiva. Shiva'S arm is worshipped here. The trek of the highest temple of Lord Shina commences from Chopta, the trek is just 4 km which is easy to cover but it is also a bit steep.
