Gaurikund is a base camp on the way to Kedarnath Dham. This is an important hindu pilgrimage site. Gaurikud is dedicated to wife of Lord Shiva Goddess Parvati and a temple of Goddess parvati is also situated here. Take an easy treak of 16 kms from Gaurikund to Kedarnath. Gaurikund is located at an elevation of 1982 mts above the sea level.
According to the legend Gaurikund is the place where Goddess parvati penance and meditated to win the heart of lord Shiva. It is believed that Lord shiva accepted to marry with Goddess parvati here and married her in Trijuginarayan. The other is Lord Ganesha also associated with the Beheading and replaced with an elephant's head. This kund is also known as the Parvati Sarover.

Ukhimath: Ukhimath is popular for winter home of Shri Kedarnath. Situated at a distance of 45 km from Gaurikund and offered the amazing views of snow capped peaks can be easily see from Ukhimath.
Chopta: Chopta is a small village surrounding by beauty of nature. Chopta is located on the Gopeshwar- Ukhimath Road. The place is known as "Mini Switzerland" of Uttarakhand.
