Dwarahat is a town of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state. It iS located at an elevation of 1510 meters above the sea level. The town is famous for the ancient temples. Dwarahat is popular for a group of 55 ancient temples. Dwarahat does not have many sightseeing and place of interesting that would attract large number of tourists. Dwarahat is the temple town. Many fastivals celebrate here like Makar Sankranti, Basabt Panchami etc.
The town had a population of 2543 with male constitute 53% of the population and females 47% of the population. Literacy rate is 86% of male and 78% of female.
Maa Dunagiri Temple is located at adistance of 20km from Dwarahat belong to the mountain brought by pavandev. Every nights of Navratri is dedicated to Maa kali (Durga) in the different form of like Shailputri, Brahmachaarin, Chandraghanta, Kushmaanda, skand maa, kaatyini, kaalratri, chaamunda and Sidhidaarti. The temple or Pavan Maharaja Ashram is well connected to the Highway.
Dwarahat is also popular center of education in Kumaon. There is an engineering college, poltechnic institute and other several schools are located in Dwarahat.
The Nearest other attraction are Nainital, Almora, Baijnath, Bageshwar, someshwar, ranikhet, Kausani offered the excellent view of the mountain peaks. There are many festivals are celebrate here like Makar Sankranti, Basant Panchmi, Khatarua, Bat Savitri and Ganga Dusshera.
Summer Season: Summers are starts from March to till the month of June. The maximu temprature is 21 degree During the Summer season.
Winter Season: October is the beaginning month of winters to till the month of february. The temprature can be expected about 7 degree celsius and rising up to 10 degree celsius. Winters are quite cool here.
Monsoon Seasaon: Monsoon is starts in Dwarahat from july to till the month of September. August is the highest Rainfall month, Rains bring freshness abd greenary to the palce.
Dunagiri Temple: Dungiri temple is located 14 km from Dwarahat. This temple is dedicated to goddess Durga. It is believe that when hanuman ji was carrying the mountain with "sanjiwani buti for Laxman" A piece of butti fell here ans Since that day this place is known as "Doonagiri". Here is a temple is built bt Pandavas. This temple is popularly known as Mangalikhan among the locals. The interior of the temple is very old.
Lakhanpur Temple: The temple is hindu temple and built by the Katyuri kings during the 800 to 1100 AD. The Ancient temple is situated on Jaurasi - Chaukhutia road about 25 km from Dwarahat. Each year between October -november a small fair is held. Many Devotees and pilgrims visit the temple to attend the fair with great devotion.
Pandukholi: Pandukholi is the place where the pavdavas brothers resided the first year of Agyatvas to completing their 14 years of exile. The cave of Pandukholi are situated at a distance of 27 km From Dwarahat.
Nainital: situated at a distance of 97 km from Dwarahat with at an elevation of 1938 mts above the sea level. Nainital is a ideal hill stataion and thousand of Tourists visist every month througyhtout the year. Nainital is famous for its Naini Lake Surrounding with mountaons and thick alpine tress. The lake is offered the boating facilities.
Almora: It is located at an elevation 5400 ft above the sea level and famous for its magnificient beauty. One can see in Almora Rich culture, unique handicraft and wildlife. Almora is spread across a 5 km ride a top Kashaya hill. The picturesqur location is attract the thousand of tourists every year.
Baijnath: Baijnath is 55 km from Dwarahat. The temple lies on the bank of the Gomti in the Garuda Valley. The main attraction of the temple is a black stone idol of Parvati at the main entrance. A kali temple is located 8 km from Baijnath known as Kot Ki Mai.
Bageshwar: Bageshwar is situated 83 km from Dwarahat. The Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva and It is believed tha the Lord Shiva wandered here as a tiger. Bageshwar is located at the confluence of Saryu and Gomti river. Every year in january a fair held on Dwarahat and many visitors visit Dwarahat.
Karanprayag: Situated at a distance of 90 kms from Dwarahatwith at an elevation of 788 mts above the sea level. Karnaprayag is lies on the confluence of two mighty River Alaknanda River coming from Satopanth and pindar River Coming from Pindar Glacier.
Kausani: Kausani is a beautiful hill station of kumaon Region situated at a distance of 46 kms from Dwarahat with at an elevation of 1890 mts above the sea level. offered several snow-capped peak with extraordinary natural beauteousness. A famous Hindi poet Sumitranandan pant was born in Kausani.
Chaukhutiya: It is situated at a distance of 18 km from Dwarahat. Kali Temple, Vaishno Devi's Temple, ancient forts anf ruins of Katyuri dynasty makes Chaukhutiya travelers pleasure.
Ranikhet: It is the Home of kumaon Regiment and Naga Regimentof Indian Army. Ranikhet is a hill stataion located in Almora District of Uttrakhand.
Someshwar: Someshwar temple is situated at a distance of 32 km from Dwarahat and the tenple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is constructed by Th efounder of the Chand Dyanst, Raja Som Chand and holds a great importance among the locals.
Pandukholi: Pandukholi is the cave built by Pandave During their Exile period of Agyatwas are situated here. It is situated at a distance of 10 km frm Doonagiri and take an easy trek of 5 km will lead you to these picturesque cave.
