Bhimtal is a hill station located in Uttarakhand state of India. This town is popular destination among the tourist and located in Nainital district. The town get its name to the famous character in Mahabharata (indian mythology)- Bhima. The Town is located at an altitude of Around 1200 meters and famous for its popular enormous Bhimtal Lake that is present in the region. Bhimtal Lake is one of the cheif tourist attraction in Bhimtal. Bhimtal is a religious place many religious temple located here. Bhimeshwar Mahadev temple is located here and built in 17th century.The temple is oldest temple of Lord Shiva located in the bank of Bhimtal lake. It is belive that the temple built during the vanavas period of Pandavas. The temple is main attraction in Bhimtal. This town is about 22 km from Nanital. Bhimtal is best location to visit and spend your holidays with Plesent Temprature. The town is famous hill station and tourist attraction. Tourist can enjoy here boating in the lake.
Summer season: The month of April to till May is summer season starts here. The months are plesent temprature with maximum temprature of around 27 degree and minimum is 10 degree. Summer season is an ideal time to visit in Bhimtal.
Winter season: September is the beginning month of winter in Bhimtal and till the month of Febraury. Winter in Bhimtal are cold with maximum temprature of around 15 degree and minimum temprature is -3 degree celcius. Bhimeshwara Mahadev Temple: Bhimeshwara Mahadev Temple is an oldest temple located in Bhimtal and dedicated to Lord Shiva. This is 17th century temple. It is believed that the brother of Pandavs Bhima worship here during the time of Mahabharata.
Bhimtal lake: The town Bhimtal is famous for its Bhimtal lake. This lake is bigger than Naini Lake. You can enjoy boating to this lake. The lake is laying at an altitude of 4500 ft and 22 km from Nanital. The lake is surrounded by the kumaon hill all around. The area around the lake supporta wide variety of animal species like black eagle, wall creeper, Tawny fish owl, bulbul and dove.
Hidimba Parvat: Hidimba hill is located at a distance of 5 km from Bhimtal. The place got its name after a demon called Hidimba, Wife of Bheem one of the pandavs Brother. This parvat is also known for a Vankahdi Ashram For Conservation of the wild aminals. Hidimba Parvat is popular for Peaks and Mountains.
Victoria Dam: Victoria Dam is located at end of Bhimtal lake and Has treeaced flower gardens that are placed on either side of the dam. Tourists can take a walk through the huge forests that surround the lake. This dame is about 40 feet high.
Hanuman Garhi: Hanuman Garhi is a temple dedicated to lord shiva in Bhimtal. The temple is built by Shri Neem Karoli in the 1950. A huge idol of Lord Hanuman resides here near to which there is a place allocated for clicking pictures. It is a small cave temple but a huge hanuman idol is situated here. The temple is situated at an altitude of 6401 ft above the sea level.
Garg Parwat: Garg Parwat is located near Bhimeshwar Temple at a distance of 1 km. This parvat is the source of Gargi River also referred to as Gala Nadi by the locals.

Butterfly Research Centre: This beautiful butterfly Reserch Center is located on a hillock Near the Bhimtal lake at a distance of 1 km. It is the fourth Largest Butterfly Reserch Center located in Bhimtal and approximately 1300 species of Butterfly are gound in india but 240 species are found in Bhimtal. Karkotaka Temple: This is the temple of Nag Karkotaka Devta and believed that the temple with the serpent god protects the villagers from Snake Bites. It is situated about 2.5 km From Bhimtal. Thousand of Pilgrims are visit the Nag Devta Temple.
Folk Culture Museum: The Museum is popularly known as "Lok Sanskriti Sangrahalaya" founded in 1983 by Dr. Yashodhar Mathpal contain many old artifacts and photographs. It is situated in the vicinity of Bhimtal Lake.
Mukteshwar: Mukteshwar got its name from a 350 year old Temple "Mukteshwar Dham" situated at a distance of 35 km from Bhimtal. It is located at an Elevation of 2285 meters above the sea level. Mukteshwar Dham is famous Temple of Lord Shiva. The Town was developed by the Britishers as a reserch center or Education Institute in 1893.
Sat Tal: Situated at a distance of 12 km from Bhimtal with at an altitude of 1370 mts above the sea level. The lake is group of seven lakes -purna Tal, Ram Tal, Sita Tal, Laxman Tal, Nal Damyanti Tal, Sukh Tal and Garud Tal. Surrounded with Dense forests of Oak and Pine Trees. The Tal is one of few unspoiled and unpolluted fresh water biomes.
Jim Corbett National Park: India's old National park established in 1936. Situated at a dis tance of 81 km from Bhimtal and spread an area of 521 sqkm. By Rail: Kathgodam Railway station is the nearest railway station to Bhimtal and located around 30 km from Bhimtal. There are two trains that run daily between Delhi to Kathgodam. Buses are easily available to Bhimtal from Kathgodam Railway station.
By Road: Bhimtal is well conected to motorable road with major destination of Uttarakhand State. Buses are easily available from ISBT Anand Vihar to Kathgodam and Nanital. Direct buses are not available to Bhimtal. Buses and Taxis are available from Nainital and kathgodam to Bhimtal.
