Yamunotri Glacier Trek

Yamunotri is the source of the Yamuna River and the sacred shrine of Goddess Yamuna, from Yamunotri Temple at a 10 km distance. Yamunotri is situated at an altitude of 3,293 meters in the Garhwal Himalayas. This trek is nearby the Indo China border and on all sides it is covered by the Himalayan offshoots. There are naturally created slate stone on the bank of Saptrishi Kund Lake. Dark blue is the color of water and lush green terraced fields of Saptrishi Lake and Yamunotri Glacier.

Temple is the chief attraction at Yamunotri and devoted to the Yamuna Devi. At Janki Chatti away 7 km the holy thermal springs is situated. One of the four most important worships is constitutes, collectively called “Char Dham” of the Gharwal Himalayas. On the left of Yamuna Temple was constructed by Maharaja Pratap Saha in 1919, he was the king of Tehri Garhwal. Yamunotri trek route splits into two major treks from the top of the Dodital, Darwa Pass.

One of the nature’s great creation was side by side hot water springs and the glaciers co- existing. The most important kund is Surya Kund. Shiloa called Divya Shila is near the Kund. Before merging with the Ganges at Triveni Sangam (Allahabad), Yamunotri cross these states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh and then Delhi. For its trekking route Yamunotri is popular.

How to Reach Yamunotri Glacier Trek

From Rishikesh one has to undertake a 220 km journey to Hanuman Chatti for reaching Yamunotri. The remaining journey from Hanuman Chatti (where motorable road ends) 13 km has to be covered on foot.
