Doonagiri Glacier Trek

It is a well known glacier situated near Joshimath in Garhwal Himalayas. Divine beauty and natural splendor is a treasure house, the magical land of Uttrakhand in India. You can also visit the Bagini Glacier while on trip to Doonagiri lying in the same valley. From this glacier a stream originates and merges near the Juma village into Dhauli Ganga.

A good place for camping is near the vicinity of the glacier. In Uttrakhand, there are countless tourist destinations and among the major attraction of the region are the glaciers. A long 12 km foot trek runs along the Doonagiri stream from Doonagiri village to reach the glacier snout. Another Glacier in this valley is Bagini. An amazing place for camping is near the surrounding area of the Glacier. From Juma, Uttrakhand can be accessed Doonagiri Glacier on the route to Joshimath Malari road. Between middle of the May and middle of the October is the best time to visit the glacier.

Doonagiri Glacier Trek Tour Itienrary

DAY 1: Delhi – Rishikesh:
Journey starts to Rishikesh from Delhi in an early morning. A Holy pilgrimage of India is Rishikesh. Check in to the hotel, after arrive in Rishikesh. You can see the Aarti, Pooja of Ganga and the giant view of river Ganga in the evening. Stay overnight at hotel.

DAY 2: Rishikesh – Joshimath:
Transfer to Joshimath after breakfast in an early morning. To Joshimath your journey is restart. Joshimath near of Shankaracharya, Auli and Badrinath and it is very nice place. Check in the hotel, after arrive in Joshimath. Stay overnight at hotel.

DAY 3: Joshimath – Juma – Doonagiri Village:
Drive to Juma after breakfast in the morning. Arrive in Doonagiri village in the evening. Stay overnight at hotel.

DAY 4: Doonagiri Village – Doonagiri Glacier:
Trek to Doonagiri Glacier is start in the morning. For camping this is the nice place. Explore the area in the evening. Stay overnight at tent.

Day 5: Doonagiri Glacier – Doonagiri Village:
Enjoy the nature in the morning. Return to Doonagiri Village. Stay overnight at hotel.

DAY 6: Doonagiri Village – Juma – Joshimath:
Back trekking to Juma after breakfast. Back to the Joshimath and take pre booked jeep after lunch. Stay overnight at hotel.

DAY 7: Joshimath – Srinagar:
Drive to Srinagar in the morning. Stay overnight at hotel.

DAY 8: Srinagar – Delhi:
Drive back to Delhi from Srinagar after breakfast. Your tour and our service is end here with great memories.

How To reach Doonagiri Glacier Trek

By Road: Juma Village can be visited by taking Joshimath Malari road. From Joshimath, Juma is located at a 43 km of distance. You will take an 8 km trek to Doonagiri village from Juma. Doonagiri Glacier trek is another 12 km from here. It is well connected by motorable roads with other places in Uttrakhand.
By Air: Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport (221 km).
By Train: Kathgodam is the nearest railway station (90 km).
